And because Nolo is decaf, you can enjoy it anytime you like without worrying about caffeine’s downsides. Nolo opens up coffee for everyone to enjoy, anytime.

Our Coffee
-
We select top quality ethically sourced Arabica beans from South America. We decaffeinate using the Swiss Water Process so only water and no chemical solvents are used, which keeps more flavour in the beans. And we golden roast to optimise the balance of flavours - not over-roasting like many decafs. Then we slowly cold brew the beans for a deep, complex flavour extraction. It’s a process that prioritises taste all the way, so you’ll taste it in every can. We hope it will change your view of decaf.
-
While Iced coffee is brewed hot and cooled down, with cold brew coarsely ground coffee beans are steeped in purified water for 16 hours. Because the coffee grounds are never exposed to hot water, cold brew extraction yields fewer bitter compounds and acids, resulting in a smooth, uniquely rich, velvety flavour profile. Cold brew coffee is less acidic so easier on the palate, the stomach and the teeth, and perfect for all day drinking.
-
No. Our decaffeination uses only clean water, a process also known as ‘Mountain Water Process’ (MWP) or ‘Swiss Water Process'. No chemicals are used, and no flavour is lost in the decaffeination process, so the coffee tastes better.
If you want to know which decaffeination processes do use chemical solvents they are Ethyl Acetate (EA), also known as ‘natural process’ or the ‘sugar cane method', and Methylene Chloride (DCM).
-
No. All decaf coffee contains traces of caffeine as no decaffeination process is able to fully remove all the caffeine. Coffee can only be labelled ‘Decaf’ it it contains less than 3% caffeine, ie has had 97% or more of the caffeine removed. While each production can vary slightly, Nolo aims for 98% caffeine-free coffee in all our products.
-
We know this is a hot button issue. We feel oat milk is currently the best balance of taste, health and sustainability as a coffee creamer. We use only a small amount (X ml per 250ml can). Oat Milk has only a moderate glycemic index (GI), so it raises blood sugar more slowly than high-GI foods like white bread or sugary drinks. We use a small amount of cold-pressed rapeseed oil with our oat syrup which contains a small amount of fat and is why our coffee is not a very creamy colour - as it’s fat that gives coffee a creamy colour.
-
First - we use oat syrup with just a touch of cold-pressed rapeseed oil as our coffee creamer. It's the rapeseed oil that gives a creamy colour (all creamy looking coffee looks creamy because of the fat in it - whether dairy or plant-based - more fat = more creamy colour). Because we don't use much our coffee looks darker than other latte's might.
Second - our prebiotic fibre blend adds creaminess and richness to Nolo coffee, without adding any calories, and also without adding any colour.
That's why Nolo is dark looking but creamy tasting.
-
There’s no added sugar in Nolo. The 5g of sugars in each can come purely from the oat syrup.
Coffee & Prebiotics
-
Probiotics are live good bacteria that help keep your gut healthy. People take them as supplements to boost the balance of good bacteria in their microbiome.
Prebiotics are the food that helps these good bacteria grow. They’re usually specific types of fibre found in various foods. Supplementation could be taken when your diet lacks enough prebiotic fibre to support a healthy gut environment.
Postbiotics - a newer concept to many people - are the beneficial by-products made by good bacteria, like vitamins or fatty acids. Supplements are taken to get their health benefits—like supporting digestion or reducing inflammation— without needing the live bacteria (Probiotics).
-
Prebiotic fibres serve as food for the beneficial bacteria living in our gut, selectively stimulating their growth and activity and contributing to overall gut health. Prebiotics help maintain a balanced and diverse microbiome, which is essential for optimal digestion, immune function, and mental health too.
-
Coffee - especially cold brew - is a good carrier for prebiotic fibre. Coffee is a lower acid environment compared with carbonated soft drinks (or soda) which is more stable for the prebiotic fibre blend. Not only that, prebiotic fibre adds richness, creaminess and sweetness to coffee without adding calories.
-
Each can of Nolo contains 5g of our proprietary fibre blend. This is a blend of Jerusalem artichoke, oat and citrus fibres. The Inulin in Jerusalem Artichoke can enhance colon health and improve mineral absorption. The beta-glucan in oat fibre and pectin in Citrus fibre can lower LDL cholesterol, help blood sugar control and aid feelings of satiety.
-
The average adult in the UK needs about 30g of fibre per day to support digestion, regulate blood sugar levels, and maintain overall gut health. However, most people fall short, consuming closer to 20g on average.
Each can of Nolo contains 5g of fibre, so ±15% of your daily requirement, and could potentially make up 50% of your daily fibre gap.
-
It really shouldn’t. While 5g is a meaningful amount of fibre (adults are recommend to consume 30g fibre per day and many only consume 20g), it’s not sufficient to cause digestive discomfort.
Your Nolo & You
-
Anytime you feel like the taste of delicious coffee. Without worrying about caffeine’s constraints or limitations you can enjoy it from the fridge in the morning, on the go during the day, for a low impact, healthy pick-me-up in the afternoon, and on into the evening - before, during or after dinner.
It's also great in an Espresso Martini that won't keep you up for days.
-
Yes - each can contains negligible amounts of caffeine (2mg per can), so you’re not likely to suffer any caffeine downsides from drinking more than one can. Each can also contains 5g of prebiotic plant fibre, which is around 15% of an adult’s recommended fibre intake. Drinking multiple cans will increase you fibre intake, so just pay attention to your digestive comfort if you’re going to drink a number of cans in a day.
-
We recommend you store it in the fridge, so it’s always chilled and ready to drink. But you don’t need to - it’s shelf-stable at ambient/room temperature, so you could keep it in a cupboard if you wanted to. We’re recommend storage out of direct sunlight.
Ingredients
-
Yes you can. While we recommend you consult your healthcare professional first, Nolo contains minimal amounts of caffeine and so should be an appropriate choice for pregnant or breastfeeding moms.
-
They could - Nolo is decaf (98% caffeine free), low sugar and plant-based, so it won’t give them a caffeine-buzz or sugar-rush. The 5g of added prebiotic fibre in each can could represent 20-25% of a child’s recommended daily fibre intake depending on their age, so we would recommend to go slowly and start by trying just a little to ensure they digest Nolo comfortably.
